Proposed changes to the Gender Recognition Act

I was honoured to attend the discussion in Westminster, as a representative of Fair Play For Women, around Maria Miller’s proposed changes to the Gender Recognition Act 2004. This was the first time critical views had been heard! The room was packed with MPs, medical, legal and educational professionals. We heard from David Davies MP, Miranda Yardley, Stephanie Davies-Arai, James Caspian and others. I spoke about unfairness in sport. (Videos)

In a sexist society, sex matters

The passing of a self-declaration law together with removal of Schedule 3 exceptions would see the current delicate balance of rights between ‘sex’ and ‘gender’ in the Equality Act overturned. Those confident that new legislation will not impact women’s rights should not fear discussion; the left must consider the impact of further changing how sex is defined.

It’s Not About You, You, You or You

Self-ID: It’s not about you. Well, actually, it is. The proposed new law affects a heck of a lot of people. Unlike gay marriage, it reaches far beyond the personal. The government only requested submissions from transgender representatives – ignoring women’s organisations, disability campaigners, HM Prison Services, healthcare providers and others. Yet, without public consultation, it protected male aristocratic succession from trans ID. So it’s all about them …

Prison: are women safe?

Women in prison are vulnerable, making up 25% of prisoner self-harm but only 5% of prison population. Most have an extensive history of abuse, suffer disabilities, and are in need of protection. Yet the proposed Gender Identity law reform will allow violent & abusive males to be housed in the female estate, as ‘women’, on demand. We must protest. #safenotsilent @UKMayDay

Lesbians and a cotton ceiling – This is feminism 6

Lesbian women are having to meet secretly to avoid sexually insistent trans-identified males. Female same-sex orientation angers many ‘lesbian’ transwomen, who soon turn from wheedling to fury at a woman’s rejection of penis. Catherine Drury introduces the ‘Cotton Ceiling’ and laments the pressure on young lesbians to turn trans-male. This is feminism 6.

Intersex, dimorphism & denial – This is feminism 4

“But what about intersex?” Human sexual dimorphism and the denial of biology. While transgender advocates debate the ever-changing meaning of ‘woman’ and ‘female’, Catherine explains why there is no third sex and intersex conditions don’t disprove the facts of sexual reproduction. This is important – welcome to Feminism 4!

Jeremy Corbyn throws women under trans bus

Jeremy Corbyn’s ‘advancement’ in trans rights would grant legal status as a woman (or man) to anyone who says they are. He’s misinformed about current gender ID law in the UK – and woefully ignorant of the repercussions for women and children. He can’t promote both self-ID and women’s rights, the two are mutually exclusive.

Money & transgender safety

Surely, he said, displaying a concern for trans people I’d never seen him display for women, a transwoman asking for a place in a women’s refuge is a DV victim in need? Trans people deserve support, but here’s the thing: women’s services aren’t coping with demand as it is. They lack money, power and influence. But many figures in the transgender movement are enormously wealthy. Any one of them could fund services for trans professionals to help trans people!

Most transgender women have a working penis

Only about one in five trans people undergo ‘sex reassignment’ surgery. Less than 75% of transgender ‘women’ have a functioning penis. Tara Hudson, the “beautician” who supposedly lived her entire life as a woman, neglected to mention his real profession as a ‘she-male’ (his word) prostitute and sex performer, or that he refers to himself as a bloke. Although he’s a very violent male, Hudson served his time in a prison full of women.
