Fair Play for Women supports the rights of ordinary trans people to live their lives freely and safely and for people with gender dysphoria to get the treatment they need. But we do not agree that we have to subvert our language or understanding of biology to achieve that. When women are
Transgender rights do not exist in isolation. A balance of rights must be struck for the good of the whole population. We must ask ourselves “What is reasonable for us to do as a society?” In what circumstances should someone be allowed to change the sex on their birth certificate?
1.0 A Sister to All Guides On Sunday 24th March a Leader with a Rainbows unit in London bravely spoke up about her concerns regarding Girlguiding’s transgender policy. Helen Watts allowed herself to be named, quoted and photographed for an article in the Sunday Times. Parents may be wondering why
There has been a lot of publicity and discussion on social media recently about a study which reports on a trans-identified male who has exclusively breastfeed a baby for the first 6 weeks. So is this possible and who might benefit from this; if male-bodied people are now able to nurse
Yesterday, an excellent thread started on MumsNet that captures in a nutshell exactly why women are not happy about the way laws are being interpreted and what we need to start to do. It’s a 2 minute read that all women must know about. Want to know why
This week Transgender Trend published its Schools Resource Pack. It was developed in response to an urgent need for clear factual information for schools seeking advice on a very recent and unprecedented phenomenon. It is refreshingly different to all the other guidance produced by the transgender and LGBT organisations which

Fair Play For Women has written a series of articles on the important topic of the legal rights available to transgender people and to biological women. How the rights of these two groups interact is crucial to an informed debate on GRA reform. We are also producing a series of
It’s early morning. It’s dark outside. I’m bleary-eyed and sitting with a strong coffee in my favourite mug trying to wake up! I had a phone call late last night asking me to speak on the Nick Ferrari Breakfast show on LBC radio. I will be giving my views
It appears that the Labour Party in the UK have unofficially and undemocratically decided, without consulting party members or having any sort of vote, that anyone can self-define as a woman (note: not as men) and therefore apply for all-women shortlists, at least in under-25 categories so far –
Sexual reproduction requires two; a male and a female. The male sex organ is the penis and testes. The female sex organs are vagina, ovaries and womb. Humans have known and lived with that simple reality for thousands of years Sex is a binary. It’s pretty basic stuff. It really

We were outraged to hear the bullying and misogynistic way the call was handled. James would not let her speak, shut her down, mocked her, and implied she was a bigot for not agreeing that sex is in the ‘soul’. Complain to LBC!
#MeToo – One woman’s lifetime in everyday sexual assaults. There have been too many to count, so these are some that stuck in my mind. There’s nothing special about me: all women suffer everyday sexual assaults, and many get it far worse. This isn’t inevitable – men can be better; plenty of men are. I try to figure out why so many men are predators, and how women are trained to put up with it. (Medium-long read, with lots of pictures.)
The passing of a self-declaration law together with removal of Schedule 3 exceptions would see the current delicate balance of rights between ‘sex’ and ‘gender’ in the Equality Act overturned. Those confident that new legislation will not impact women’s rights should not fear discussion; the left must consider the impact of further changing how sex is defined.
